Allied Solutions executed a national partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation to help enhance the vibrant communities where we live and work. This partnership aims to support the Foundation’s critical work on a national scale, with local volunteer opportunities and programs that offer employees ways to contribute to sustainability initiatives at the local level.
“Allied Solutions employees are proud to make an impact in their communities, and this new national partnership allows our employees to support sustainable initiatives at the local level," said Senior Vice President of Human Resources and Chief Diversity Officer Ashima Kapur. “During Earth Month in April and beyond, we will roll up our sleeves to plant trees, protect natural resources and beautify our parks and neighborhoods.”
As the world’s largest member nonprofit dedicated to planting trees, the Arbor Day Foundation has worked to plant more than 500 million trees in forests and communities around the world since 1972. Guided by its mission to inspire people to plant, nurture and celebrate trees, the Arbor Day Foundation is committed to unlocking the power of trees to help solve critical issues facing people and the planet. The Foundation recently announced an initiative to plant an additional 500 million trees over the next five years in the forests and communities that need them most.
“We are grateful to work in neighborhoods with a partner who actively encourages their own community of coworkers to participate and support the growth of their urban forests,” said Dan Lambe, chief executive of the Arbor Day Foundation. “By leveraging meaningful civic engagement through environmental stewardship, this partnership demonstrates Allied Solutions’ culture of connectivity to the places in which they live and work.”
The impact of this partnership was immediate. In fewer than 48 hours, Allied Solutions employees requested more than 200 trees to plant in their communities through the Foundation’s Community Canopy project. Eight employees planted trees in Indianapolis with the Foundation’s local planting partner, Keep Indianapolis Beautiful, to improve air and water quality and reduce the urban heat island effect on the city’s near-east side. In the coming months, employees at all Allied offices will have the chance to volunteer in their local community, including supporting the Arbor Day Foundation’s local planting partners where possible.
